What is it?
It is a web based tool that determines the NVQ level of a client by translating all the qualifications throughout their education. Designed to be quick and user friendly, clients choose their qualifications from drop down lists organised by which type of institution they studied at (eg. school, college etc).

How does it work?
The calculator uses the QCA's National Qualifications Framework (NQF) which gives each qualification an NVQ level. In September 2004 this framework changed when the number of NVQ levels increased from Entry to Level 5 to Entry to Level 8.
This is apart from ‘Other’ qualifications that are outside the scope of the NQF. However they are reported back to the learner because it is important that all achievements are recognised.

These qualifications are then added up and converted into an NVQ level. The tool then suggests a selection of next steps that can help facilitate the advice session.
